Airport Donetsk dates back to 1931

• July 27, 1931. by resolution of Stalino City Council was asked to find an area for the construction of civil aviation airfield in Stalino city.

• 1933. Donetsk Airport was founded.

• 23 June 1941. The Council of People's Commissars of the USSR approved the "Regulations on the Main Directorate of CAF (the civil air fleet) in wartime". The entire staff of the CAF was considered to be drafted into the Red Army. Flight-technical staff joined the 87-th Guards separate Stalin Regiment of Civil Aviation.

• 1944. After the liberation of Donbass airport started to implement the air transportation of passengers, freight and production of chemical works.

• 60's, early 70's. Operation of the AN-24, AN-10, IL-18 has begun. Crew members of flying detachment PANH, to master the use of the AN-2 at the chemical works in the Donetsk region were annually sent to help rural areas of Central Asia, Germany and other countries where provided assistance to agriculture.

• 1974. The reconstruction of the runway and radio equipment for take off and landing.

• 1975. The new terminal building was commissioned. This moment made possible to operate with all aircraft types on that period.

• 1982. The beginning of flight operation of third generation aircrafts of Yak-42 which had been successfully mastered by flight and engineering personnel.

• 1983. For the first time in the Soviet Union was performed the implementation of international air services with the Yak-42. Extensive experience of performance Yak-42 was handed to specialist from Lviv, Simferopol, Dnepropetrovsk airlines, Lithuanian, Uzbek and Turkmen pilots by flight an engineering personnel.

• 1988-1989. Flight engineers and technicians of enterprise has actively participated in assistance providing to victims of the Spitak earthquake. Particularly distinguished workers were awarded with "Excellence in Aeroflot" diplomas of the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

• October 11, 1991. Donetsk United aviation group was renamed to Donetsk airline.

• 1992. Based on the airline prepared by the engineering staff was initiated repair of Yak-42 aircraft after 10 000 flight hours since because aircraft factories were not ready to carry out the repair of such type aircrafts. Repair was carried out for the basic Yak-42 and belonging one to other airlines (Vilnius, Krasnodar, Ulyanovsk).

• Since 1993. Airline crew members had been started intensive mastering of international air lines using Yak-42. Air routes more than to 40 countries were made for 10 years.

• February 25, 1998. Donetsk airline was renamed to Donetsk state air company "Donbass-Eastern Ukrainian Airlines".

• 1999. For high production levels, ensuring of flight safety air company "Donbass" was awarded a diploma by the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine. 9 workers of airline were awarded by title of honour "Honored Worker of Transport of Ukraine".

• 2002. First place in regional competition in labor protection supply.

• 2003. Reorganization of airline by dividing in two parts: airport and air company. Forming of Utility Enterprise "Donetsk International Airport".
